Accepted waste

What we accept, and what needs a different route

Most of what comes out of a home, an office or a renovation is straightforward. A short list is not, and it is worth two minutes before the bin is filled rather than a conversation after it is collected.

What can go in the bin

Mixed loads of the following are fine. You do not need to sort them.

  • General household and office waste

    Everyday non-hazardous waste from a home, shop or office clear-out.

  • Furniture and bulky items

    Sofas, mattresses, wardrobes, desks, chairs and cabinets.

  • Renovation debris

    Hacked tiles, plaster, screed, partition boards and fittings stripped out of a unit.

  • Construction rubble

    Concrete, brick, blockwork and hardcore from construction and demolition.

  • Wood and timber

    Offcuts, pallets, carpentry, plywood and old timber fittings.

  • Metal

    Steel, aluminium, pipes, brackets, grilles and metal fittings.

  • Cardboard and paper

    Packaging, cartons, office paper and other clean paper waste.

  • Plastics

    Packaging film, crates, containers and moulded plastic fittings.

  • Garden and landscaping waste

    Branches, cuttings, turf and general green waste.

  • Soil and earth

    Excavated soil and earth. Heavy, so it is priced by tonnage — tell us the volume and whether it is clean or mixed.

Check with us first

These need a licensed route, a specific facility, or in some cases a different contractor. Do not put them in the bin — contact us first and we will tell you what the job needs. Some of them we can arrange; the rest we will point you to.

  • Hazardous waste

    Anything classified as hazardous or toxic waste.

  • Asbestos

    Asbestos in any form, including bonded sheeting and insulation. This needs a licensed asbestos contractor.

  • Chemicals, paint and solvents

    Paint, thinners, adhesives, cleaning chemicals, oils and fuel.

  • Batteries

    Vehicle batteries, lithium batteries and battery packs, including those inside appliances.

  • Gas cylinders

    LPG and other pressurised cylinders, full or empty.

  • Medical and clinical waste

    Clinical waste, sharps and anything from a healthcare setting.

  • Liquids

    Loose liquids of any kind, including water that has collected in containers.

Why it matters

A bin that arrives at the disposal facility with prohibited material in it can be rejected at the gate. That means the load comes back, the job stops, and the cost lands on the booking. Asking first costs nothing.
